Today's Writing Challenge is: What do you want to be when you grow up?Your response must be 8 to 10 sentences long. Your rough copy is due on Friday. Here's a sample from me...
When I was a kid I really wanted to be a traffic controller. I was amazed at their police-type uniform with the highlighter yellow safety vest, immaculate white gloves and their golden whistle. They would hold up their gloved hands to stop and start the traffic, I thought that was the coolest job in the world, and I wouldn't dream of being anything else. When I told my sister about my dream job, she immediately said to me, "When I learn how to drive, I will yell at all of the cars to run over you!" I was shocked, and decided to change my job. So I decided to become a pilot instead. Pilots got to wear a fancy uniform with a pilot's hat and cool sunglasses, and they got to travel around the world for free! When I watched the news with my family, I saw a news report that the pilot lost control of the airplane and crashed into a mountain and sadly everyone died. I had no plans to die on my dream job, so I changed my job. I decided to be an artist. I would paint beautiful works of art people would pay millions of dollars to have in their house and I would become world-famous. Then my sister told me, "What if you can't the paint off your skin and you will be stuck in different colours for the rest of your life?" That was the end of my childhood search for the best job in the world. It wouldn't be until I was a young adult until I discovered that I wanted to be a teacher.
