Hello Grade Six,
I miss you and our crazy fun times in the classroom. But sadly, this letter will have to do for now. Like you, I am also trying to adjust to this transition online. I believe we will be successful when we practice patience and understanding with me and with each other. I will try my best to keep to our regular school schedule, so we can still feel somewhat “normal.” Don’t worry; your new workload shouldn’t be too overwhelming for you.
Unfortunately, I don’t have all of the answers for you and your family. I do not know how long our online classroom will last, so I am assigning homework and giving your materials for each month, with the intention that you will hand in your completed work and pick up new monthly homework. I do not recommend you leave everything for the last minute. I am sending all of your personal belongings from your cubby and from your locker home. I am sending some school textbooks home. Please take care of them, since you will return them at the end of the school year.
This is the homework I have assigned for this month:
I will continue to use the class blog as our planner (theteacherkatsclass.weebly.com), Zoom, YouTube (only accessible with a link), and Google Classroom. Please make sure you have access to Google classroom, which can only be accessed with your OLGC school account. To access you school Google account, please follow this template: email@example.com/. For example, Billie Eilish’s email would be: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have not changed your password, it should be classof2021
Any problems or questions, please contact Miss Manuel immediately.
Class Schedule (Times may change, please check Google Classroom and the class blog)
I understand most of you will be competing with siblings and family members for Internet time, so I tried my best to limit our time online.
Our class schedule will be as follows: All of these will be held on the Zoom platform
Monday (10:30-11:30 AM)
You can always email me anytime, and I will try to answer your questions as best as I can. Please remind your parents to email me at email@example.com so I can relay more important information to them.
Hello Grade Six and Grade Six parents!
I am happy to report that we are still going to continue with education! Like our amazing staff at OLGC, I am going to embrace the 2st Century and move the classroom online. Please bear with me as I am still trying to figue out what I need to do to get your learning started. After all, you've had 2 weeks of no school, and you're stuck inside... I better get those brains (and mine) working before they turn into goo!
I will be using this blog, Google classroom, Youtube (for teaching videos), and Zoom. I understand some of you will be competing for internet use with your parents, siblings and family members. So homework may be due weekly, instead of daily.
We will be focusing on the following subjects:
In the meantime, continue to work on your persuasive essay drafts (which are now due on F April 3) and read as many just-right novels as you can. Unfortunately, we will have to go back and complete online learning journals. But we can do this! Hopefully, we can see each other by mid-May or June (let's hope)!
Please, please, PLEASE have your parents email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so I am able to communicate with them about our new learning online adventure.
Stay safe, and stay healthy! I miss all of you and our shenanigans!
Miss Manuel :)
Hello Grade 6!
As you may have heard from the news and our OLGC School Newsletter, in accordance with the BC Ministry of Education, we have suspended in-class instruction until further notice. But do not worry, the amazing staff of OLGC are planning to move to an alternate form of teaching. See, I'm not done having fun with you yet! I still have loads of tricks and surprises up my sleeves for Term 3.
Don't worry, I am going just as crazy as you are at home, and I can't wait to get back to the classroom to teach you. Just make sure you are memorizing your poem and working hard on your rough drafts for Speech Arts (heh, homework blurb). But for now, I ask each and everyone of you, to pray for an end to the coronavirus.
See you soon!
Miss Manuel :)
